Having never felt represented by most mainstream fashion, MI Leggett was used to reimagining clothing to better suit their evolving aesthetic. But, after living in Berlin and learning to more deeply embrace their non-binary identity, they decided to turn their penchant for revamped fashion into an entire line—and Official Rebrand was born.

Through Official Rebrand (OR?!), Leggett “revives discarded clothing,” through painting, drawing and alterations. But the brand isn’t only a creative outlet—it’s a sustainable alternative to wasteful consumerism. Four years working for a sustainable agriculture nonprofit taught Leggett all about utilizing discarded materials and redefining what waste is. So they’re not only turning salvaged clothing into something more meaningful—they are keeping it out landfills.

The themes that Leggett paints, draws and stitches into the pieces also provide commentary on consumerism and society fetishizing fashion. Many of the pieces have something on them pertaining to desire, decadence and religion—which helps them make a statement at every angle. The graphic brushstrokes pop against bright fabrics, creating pieces that are one of a kind but also very much part of a steady aesthetic.

Since Leggett launched OR?!, they’ve seen a lot success, collaborating with several other brands and being featured everywhere from Paper Magazine to Teen Vogue. They’ve also shown at multiple Berlin and New York Fashion Weeks, and are gearing up for New York Men’s Fashion Week in February.
