ABELINE expertly fuses elegance and utility through thoughtful construction and novel materials.
Founder Abby Lutz wanted to create clothing that felt intentional and wasn’t dictated by seasonal trends. She credits her artistic background for her interest in both the form and function of her pieces.
“My background is in contemporary art, where I was constantly thinking about how objects interact with the body and daily life,” she said. “I wanted to bring that same mindset into clothing, pieces that are functional, beautiful, and quietly expressive.”
When designing her garments, Lutz first considers the materials she will use and says she favors unexpected fabrics that already have a history or texture to them.
“There’s also a strong influence from vintage workwear pieces that were designed with purpose. I like to reinterpret those ideas in a more refined, subtle way,” she explained. “A lot of it is about balance: something that feels classic but slightly off, simple but with a detail you notice over time. I want the clothing to feel easy, but also considered.”
ABELINE’s attire ranges from playfully patchy trousers to structured-yet-slouchy canvas tunics. Pieces like the snap front “PJ KJacket” made from cotton velvet corduroy perfectly exemplify Lutz’s ability to balance practicality and polish.
In the coming months, Lutz says she will continue to thoughtfully build her brand’s presence through partnerships, activations, and pop-ups.
“We’re launching our Spring/Summer capsule that highlights some of our core ideas, lightweight, everyday pieces with thoughtful construction and fabric,” she added. “Longer term, I’m really interested in creating spaces that bring the brand to life beyond just clothing — something that feels rooted in creativity.”
